We’ve been through the admissions process time and time again, and understand the pressures and intricacies that come with it.

High school is both one of the hardest times and the most rewarding times in a student’s life, and we’re here to make the journey more manageable for everyone - parents included.

Our mission is to help spark our students' academic success with a personalized plan, and instill in them the confidence, skills and self-awareness that allows them to thrive in college and life beyond.

What began as a side tutoring business over 10 years ago, has since taken off and transformed into our own success story.

Meet Our Dedicated Founder, Story Catalyst + Advisor
Steve Yavner, PhD

There are qualified college advisors, and then there’s Dr. Steve.

Dr. Steve’s experience, education and vibrant personality make him unmatched as an advisor and mentor to students.

As a Journalist for 25-years, he knows how to craft a story that will stand out to colleges
As a College Professor for 10-years, he understands how to effectively teach his students, along with having insider insight into the college admissions process
With a BA in Psychology and a Masters in Counseling, he is adept at connecting with his students and evaluating what they need to succeed
With a PhD in Educational Communication and Technology, he understands the latest, research-backed methodologies for learning

It’s not just his experience and training that sets him apart, but his warmth, humility, humor and deep compassion that he brings into every session.

At home, Dr. Steve’s a loving husband and dad of four. At work, he sees his students as an added part of his family. When they win, he wins. There’s no greater reward than helping his students spark their story and realize their potential.

Phyllis Yavner, MS, LPC, CDF

Join us in welcoming our newest team member, Phyllis!

Phyllis is a licensed psychotherapist and career counselor. She utilizes her unique knowledge in HR recruiting, career counseling, higher education, and mental health to help high school and college students find their path, overcome their obstacles, and transform their lives.

As an Assistant VP at a Wall Street bank, Phyllis was responsible for recruiting and training college students, which sparked her passion for career development
As the Assistant Director of Counseling and Psychological Services at Fairfield University, Phyllis followed her passion for working with college students, guiding them with career direction and improved mental health
Phyllis has offered career counseling, mental health support, and leadership training to young adults and parents as a consultant for organizations such as HAYVN, The Community Fund of Darien, Darien EMS Post 53, Darien Library, Darien High School, and the Darien YMCA
