Steve Yavner, PhD
My students call me Dr. Steve.
I have been teaching ACT, SAT, and PSAT prep courses for a decade. More colleges are starting to require test scores, and at most test-optional colleges you can increase your odds of acceptance by submitting a test score. My students significantly boost their baseline scores thanks to a mix of curriculum and strategy.
Everyone’s brain is different, and the goal is always to find the right formula for each student. I provide different approaches to try and practice, and then modifications based on what works and what doesn’t. We will work on an important mindset shift: beating the test at its own game. We will focus on getting the most correct answers in the least amount of time, which sometimes requires counterintuitive thinking.
With an MS in Psychology and a PhD in Educational Communication and Technology, I have applied principles from both disciplines to all of my classes and instruction as both a college professor and a college advisor. I never stop working to improve my own learning and teaching, which is why my students can count on getting the best possible instruction and achieving the best possible results.
